Description

EDIT:

I redid Thor because I was unhappy with a lot of his former features... His eyes, his lithe body… and his face was rather young looking. He’s suppose to be the oldest of Odin’s sons (at least in my head), so I thought he should look older. Also, now that I've drawn Sif, I didn't think the old look went well with her. So here's a new version! C:

The ninth card in the major arcana is Strength, no. 8.

I chose Thor for Strength because... come on! It's THOR! XDDDD

Thor is the first son of Odin. His mother was the earth and as such, I made his armor silver instead of gold. Let me explain that. XDDD

The Æsir looooove gold. In fact, they horded it. So even their homes in Asgard were built of gold. In contrast, other creatures of the realms tended to use silver instead as all the gold was in Asgard. So Thor, who was born of Midgard, wears silver, in my eyes.

Also, yes, I kept lots of elements of Thor's clothes in the Marvel movie version. I quite liked it, but I thought it happened to look too... futuristic? XDD So I changed it slightly to suit my taste.

I gave Thor a hair color between red and blond because by all accounts, he is a hotheaded one. There are a few sources that say that Thor is redhead but most are ambiguous about it. For insistence, the Prose Edda says, "His hair is more beautiful than gold."

The card itself is made of ash wood. The darker ash for the main body of the card is an overlaid stain. The character is painted on parchment. Everything was done in PS. (Check my :+fav:s for the resources.)

For more cards in this set, check this gallery.

The next card will be released Sunday, September 11th.

The strawbery blond proves a sufficient immediate solution, i guess.
